Oak Park Plaza is an open-air shopping center located at the southeast corner of 109th Avenue NE and University Avenue NE in Blaine, Minnesota. Tenants located in the shopping center include Cub Foods, Ace Hardware and various small shop tenants.
This Project included several components associated with the renovation and partial redevelopment of Oak Park Plaza. The first component included preparing demolition drawings of a portion of the shopping center in order to accommodate construction of a new Cub Foods. The second component included preparing façade renovation drawings for in-line shops adjacent to Cub Foods and a free-standing multi-tenant retail building. The original architecture of the existing shopping center adjacent to Cub Foods included a prefinished standing seam metal roof canopy and masonry clad canopy column covers. The renovation for this portion of the shopping center included maintaining the masonry column covers and concealing the design of the original sign band and sloping metal roof with a box canopy that was clad with prefinished metal panels of varying colors and profiles. The original architecture of the free-standing building included a sign band constructed of vertical wood planks. The façade renovation for this building included recladding the existing signband with EIFS with reveals and varying colors to match/complement the other renovated portion of the shopping center.
