Project Narrative

This specific Project is a 9,200 S.F. free-standing, multi-tenant building that was designed to accommodate a drive-thru component. The building is located at the northeast corner of South LaGrange Road and St. Francis Road. Based on Village Ordinance requirements and input provided by the Village Planner, the concept behind the exterior design of the building was to incorporate the same building materials, features and detailing used on the existing buildings (i.e. face brick and cast stone). Since the building is located at a prominent corner in the Village, all four sides of the building were designed as frontages. The two corner tower elements located at the south end of the building and the mansard-like roof located at the north end of the building, include etched translucent glass that’s internally illuminated to provide a halo effect at the top of the building. A garden wall with complementary landscaping was also included in the design to screen the drive-thru and by-pass lanes located adjacent to South LaGrange Road and St. Francis Road. In addition to preparing Construction Documents for this Project, D.Z.A. also provided site planning services and participated in the Entitlement Phase of the Project.
