Century Plaza was originally constructed as an enclosed mall in 1978 and is located at the southeast corner of U.S. Route 30 and Broadway Street in Merrillville, Indiana. Redevelopment of Century Plaza began in 2002 with construction of an 18,000 S.F. free-standing, multi-tenant commercial building.
Further redevelopment of Century Plaza continued in 2004 and 2007 with the partial demolition of the mall to accommodate Old Time Pottery and a free-standing building for occupancy by Staples.
This Project is the 18,000 S.F. free-standing, multi-tenant commercial building located at the northwest corner of Century Plaza. The site plan and building were designed with Panera Bread as the endcap tenant to accommodate outdoor seating/dining. Subsequently, interior operations for Panera Bread were reconfigured to accommodate a drive-thru component. In addition to Panera Bread, current tenants include Qdoba Mexican Grill and Plato’s Closet.
Design components of the building include storefronts, an EIFS signband and fabric awnings. The EIFS signband includes horizontal reveals and an earthtone color scheme. In additional to preparing Construction Documents for this project, D.Z.A. also provided site planning and construction administration services.
